In Memory of Past Members

Remembering Denny Gartner

In remembrance of our long term BPA Shareholder Denny Gartner who recently landed in heaven. Denny passed due to a heart attack.

Denny kept his Cirrus SR-22 N193SR and his Cessna 182 on floats N567DG at Breezy Point in Cliff’s hangar for many years and was an active member often flying from BPA to his other home in Vail, Colorado. His friendship and laughter will be missed by all.

Remembering Scott Wagner

Scott Wagner served as the Vice President of Breezy Point Airport before he perished in a plane crash on February 22, 2020. Scott was flying his Beachcraft Bananza A36 from Flying Cloud Airport to Breezypoint Airport when engine trouble cause a fatal plane crash near the Crow River in the Crow-Hassan Park Reserve, in northwestern Hennepin County. Scott will be missed dearly by his Breezy Point Airport family.

Scott loved life and was smart enough to enjoy every day, no matter what kind of a day it might have been. He worked hard, gave freely of his time, and loved to laugh. His dedication to his friends and family came first, always ready to lend a hand or help someone who was struggling; never judging or complaining. His membership in the Masonic Lodge and Zuhrah Shrine was important to him, as were the many clubs and units he was part of. He happily spent time with his Shrine brothers at parades, events, and pancake breakfasts. But, his greatest happiness came from being a Dad. Scott made sure we did all the obligatory family trips in the RV or in his beloved Beechcraft, never really having a destination in mind, just jump in and go. His motto was “If something breaks, you just fix it”.

Flyer’s Prayer

By: Patrick J. Phillips

When this life I’m in is done,
And at the gates I stand,
My hope is that I answer all
His questions on command.

I doubt He’ll ask me of my fame,
Or all the things I knew, Instead,
He’ll ask of rainbows sent
On rainy days I flew.

The hours logged, the status reached,
The ratings will not matter.
He’ll ask me if I saw the rays
And how He made them scatter.

Or what about the droplets clear,
I spread across your screen?
And did you see the twinkling eyes.
If student pilots keen?

The way your heart jumped in your chest,
That special solo day-
Did you take time to thank the one
Who fell along the way?

Remember how the runway lights
Looked one night long ago
When you were lost and found your way,
And how-you still don’t know?

Remember how the runway lights
Looked one night long ago
When you were lost and found your way,
And how-you still don’t know?

How fast, how far, how much, how high?
He’ll ask me not these things
But did I take the time to watch
The Moonbeams wash my wings?

And did you see the patchwork fields
And mountains I did mould;
The mirrored lakes and velvet hills,
Of these did I behold?

The wind he flung along my wings,
On final almost stalled.
And did I know I it was His name,
That I so fearfully called?

And when the goals are reached at last,
When all the flyings done,
I’ll answer Him with no regret-
Indeed, I had some fun.

So when these things are asked of me,
And I can reach no higher,
My prayer this day – His hand extends
To welcome home a Flyer.
